Cooking

Dylan watched me cooking. "I'm going to do more cooking," he vowed. And I assembled the shrimp scampi, giving lots of instructions. That's a pretty easy meal, and when it was time to eat, he groaned a couple times, "Oh, man, this is delicious..."

Will he actually take up cooking? Dunno. Sometimes I think that he comes home, fills up on good home cooking, and suddenly remembers that he actually likes eating...

My Tom cooks like Emeril. When he had his own apartment, I loved going there for food. Now that he's in my home again, I cook. Go figure.

I had the EXACT same conversation with my son, right down to the scallop shrimp pasta carbonera! I too came to the conclusion he likes eating more than cooking.

We got him a toaster oven for Christmas. I told how easy it was to throw a chicken breast or piece of fish into a foil packet with some chopped veggies and a bit of olive oil and wine and voila, instant dinner.

And I finally got my daughter to make us a soup yesterday, but it was after threat of dismemberment, starting with her iPod.

Of my three, it's the younger daughter who loves to cook and the older daughter who has just started making desserts (can't do anything else). My son can cook, but I don't know how much of it he actually does. Nothing fancy, but he's not afraid to get creative with ingredients.

Gave my Feral Beast a cook book for Xmess.
As a hint.
Which he has so far ignored lol.

I'm still waiting for the cooking bug to hit my kids. Althought they certainly like to eat! I can't say much though. I'm wishing now I'd taken more homeeconomics in school because I am woefully deficient in the kitchen. But I get by.

On the previous post about you being college material, I'm not surprised. Before I heard you got the result I was going to say usually the last ones done are the ones who do the best. Way to go!

I can relate to that. I always think that the day will come when I will do a lot more cooking and will enjoy every minute of it - but, you're right. What I actually enjoy is eating.

Jacob really enjoys cooking, though. He cooked a lot when he was here and we miss it.
