Those are so beautiful! I miss stuff like that so much...
No lilacs... some almost-gone lavendar though. That count??Is this your backyard??:-)BB
Deb... those are gorgeous!!! I absolutely love lilacs... especially the white ones. Slowly but surely I'm getting lilacs in my yard so one day I'll have a huge lilac bush like that!!
They are gorgeous and I bet the scent is amazing.
Too hot here for lilacs unfortunately. They will grow much further south here - like 800-1200miles. We DO have bougainvillea, and I would love to be able to grow tibouchina which have royal purple flowers - but no perfume alas! But the bougainvillea will withstand nearly every sort or climate and gardener! Verrry necessary requirement. I'll just enjoy yours. Thanks Barb
That's a huge lilac! I just have a little bitty one, nothing to compare with yours.
I have an old lilac in my yard and am thoroughly enjoying it.... I just cut off all of the dead stuff, and am thinking how it needs to get trimmed down in the fall. I LOVE those flowers! Thanks for sharing that magnificent lilac. Beautiful.
Oh these are just stunning!! Wow it's huge!!Sarah
I love love LOVE lilacs. Twenty-one years ago when we moved to this house, I planted a tiny, 2 foot tall lilac tree outside the kitchen window. Someday, I told myself, I'll open the window over the sink and breath in the scent of lilacs as I do dishes. Well, it didn't bloom, and over the years it stayed its stubby little bloomless self. Then we cut down a big maple and low and behold, the sun shone down on that stunted lilac bush. It shot up, it bloomed, but not enough to reach that window. But this year, for the first time, I opened up my kitchen window and....there they were. Big, fat, purple blooms, right there in front of me. Ah....
I can't tell you how much I miss the lilacs. . .. and forsythias, and the pussy willows, and whatever else grew in NJ where I was from!!!!! We had huge lilac bushes!!!! Your picture is so beautiful!!! Thank you for the reminder --- I can almost smell them!Cora
