Mary

Today is Mary's surgery. A bilateral mastectomy. Mary's begun reading my blog, and she has even left a couple comments here. Mary contacted me, after reading an article in the paper. I will be forever glad that she did. She was ahead of me in treatment, and a wonderful sounding board when I had questions or concerns. Cheerful and matter of fact, she never failed to make me feel better. And now, it is my turn to comfort Mary. She's got cancer again. You all were so wonderfully supportive to me, and I hope that you will take a few minutes to leave a comment for Mary. Thank you.

Mary - we have been sitting quietly as Debby has updated us on your journey... we are sending prayers from this corner of the globe and also a big thanks for being there for our friend Deb. No doubt she will be a tower of strength for you - an amazing thing this support network you girls have for each other.

Thoughts and prayers for Mary, for the doctors and nurses caring for her and for you her friend as you support her.

Did you see that Christina Applegate was named the most beautiful person by People Magazine? She has been through breast cancer and had a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery. She talks about the physical transformation she went through and having to "buck it up" and go to work and try to have it be normal. It reminded me of how brave you have been. (You can read the article on People.com).

Keep us updated on Mary.
